چکیده

File sharing networks are among the most popular applications of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology to date [3] and have been widely studied in terms of the performance, behavior, topology and other properties. A persistent theme throughout this research has been the evidence that many P2P file sharing systems rely on the presence of altruistic users, who provide files, network capacity or some other goods without obvious personal gain to work and are potentially damaged by the presence of too many free-riders (users who consume resources but do not provide to others in return). In this paper we will explore the use of simple market mechanisms for P2P file sharing which function without the need of altruistic users considering the conditions under which such markets may be viable.

P2P Network Trust Management Survey

Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...

Mastering selfishness and heterogeneity in mobile P2P content distribution networks with multiple source download in cellular networks

The performance of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) content distribution networks depends highly on the coordination of the peers. This is especially true for cellular networks with mobile and often selfish users, as the resource constraints on accessible bandwidth and battery power are even more limitating in this context. Thus, it is a major challenge to indentify mobile network specific problems and to de...

Perfect Ambiguous Optimistic Fair Exchange

Protocol for fair exchange of digital signatures is essential in many applications including contract signing, electronic commerce, or even peer-to-peer file sharing. In such a protocol, two parties, Alice and Bob, would like to exchange digital signatures on some messages in a fair way. It is known that a trusted arbitrator is necessary in the realization

Token-Based Accounting and Distributed Pricing to Introduce Market Mechanisms in a Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Scenario

This paper presents a token-based accounting mechanism that alleviates the free riding problem in P2P networks. The approach is complemented by distributed pricing as a flexible and viable scheme to incite users to share valuable content and to efficiently balance requests among all peers based on economic decisions.
